Technical Sheet Rocko

Rocko Tiles are intended for installation inside buildings. The product is designed for finishing wall surfaces in both dry and wet rooms. Proper assembly and adequate maintenance will ensure the long-term use of Rocko Tiles. The manufacturer is not responsible for any damage caused by incorrect installation or improper assembly conditions.

WALL TILE INSTALLATION – DRY ROOMS
WASTE DEPOSIT
Order 10% more than the installation surface to compensate for cuts and scraps.

ACCLIMATIZATION REQUIREMENTS 48H

NECESSARY INDOOR CONDITIONS 15°C – 30°C [59°F – 86°F]

DEFINITION OF “WATERPROOF”
The structural integrity of the Rocko floor will not be affected by contact with moisture/water.

Acclimatization
Before installation, Rocko tiles must be acclimatized to room temperature in the installation area. The room where the tiles will be installed must have a temperature between 15°C – 30°C [59°F – 86°F]. The tiles must be stored horizontally on a flat surface in controlled environmental conditions.

Tools for installation / Recommended accessories

  • Circular saw with guide bar
  • Cutting disc – recommended discs with a sufficient number of teeth, e.g., ø165mm (56 teeth) and ø350mm (108 teeth)
  • Utility knife
  • Ruler, measuring tape, pencil
  • Spacers, tile leveling clips
  • Glue spatula, cartridge press
  • Broom or vacuum cleaner

• Optional: Circular saw, hole drill, hardware, assembly pliers

  1. SUPPORT PREPARATION

3.1 SUPPORT REQUIREMENTS

WOOD (PANELING, OSB)
• Wood supports must be securely attached to the base structure; Rocko tiles should not be mounted on unstable or poorly attached base panels.
• The support must be load-bearing, dry, clean, and degreased.
• The support must be stable, without cracks, bends, or unevenness.

CONCRETE, BRICK
• Wooden supports must be securely attached to the base structure; Rocko tiles should not be mounted on unstable or poorly attached base panels.
• Any protrusions on the support must be removed by sanding; cavities can be filled with a suitable filler and then primed.
• The support must be reinforced and cured according to the recommendations.

CERAMIC TILES, TERAZZO, STONE
• The existing support must be securely attached to the base structure; do not mount Rocko tiles on unstable or poorly attached panels.
• The tile surface must be thoroughly cleaned and degreased before applying the adhesive.

3.2. Surface leveling
The support must be leveled with a maximum deviation of 2 mm per 1 meter length [0.08″ per 40″]. There should be no unevenness, deflections, or defects.

3.3. Support cleaning
Clean the wall of dirt and dust and degrease it if installing on a non-absorbent surface. The surface must be smooth and stable.

3.4. Surface dimensions
Before starting installation, measure the lengths of the walls where the Rocko tiles will be mounted. Proper planning of the tile arrangement prevents the appearance of very narrow elements and ensures the maintenance of proportions.

Cutting Rocko tiles
Cut the tiles using a circular saw with a guide. For cutting, it is recommended to use discs with a sufficient number of teeth, such as ø165 mm (56 teeth) and ø350 mm (108 teeth). Ensure that the tile is cut with the decorative surface facing up. If there are electrical outlets or other installations on the wall surface, cut holes in the tile before installation. Depending on the shape, holes can be cut with a hole drill or a jigsaw.

Cleaning the tile surface
The cut tiles must be cleaned. The underside of the tiles, where the adhesive will be applied, must be free of dust, dry, and degreased to ensure proper adhesion.

  1. Adhesive application from cartridge / tube / foil pack

APPLYING THE ADHESIVE

Apply the mounting adhesive to the underside of the tile or to the wall surface. If using adhesive in a cartridge or foil pack, apply it in vertical stripes at 10 cm intervals. Do not apply adhesive in spots. Apply adhesive around the perimeter of each cut hole. Bonded surfaces must be united within 10 minutes of adhesive application.

Adhesive application with trowel

Apply the mounting adhesive to the underside of the tile or to the wall surface. Apply adhesive across the entire area of the tile to be bonded. Do not apply adhesive in spots. The adhesive is applied with a trowel (C1) 4x4x4 mm. Bonded surfaces must be united within 40 minutes of adhesive application.

Bonding tiles to the surface

After applying the adhesive, place the tile on the wall and press it. For optimal adhesion, press the bonding elements so that there is a ventilation gap of 2-3 mm between them. This gap will ensure that the adhesive joint is capable of permanently transmitting deformation.

Leveling the tiles

After bonding the first tile, place leveling clips – these will allow the expansion gap between tiles (2-3 mm) and facilitate surface leveling. After bonding the next tile, level the adjacent surfaces. Do not remove the leveling clips until the adhesive has hardened. Continue with bonding the next tiles.

Removing leveling clips and protective foil

The adhesive curing speed depends on the ambient temperature and humidity (24-48 hours). As temperature and humidity increase, the polymerization process is faster. Ensure proper ventilation until full curing. After completion of work and adhesive curing, remove the leveling clips and then remove the protective foil from the tiles.
